Support to Parliament
Inside the new Parliament of Zimbabwe
The Zimbabwe Institute has a partnership with the Parliament of Zimbabwe and supports capacity building initiatives at various levels. ZI has facilitated exchange visits for Members of Parliament to other countries in the region to promote learning and exchange from other Parliamentarians. ZI facilitated visits for Parliamentarians to several countries including Kenya, South Africa, and Tunisia. The Institute also worked with the Parliament of Zimbabwe to coordinate the Zim-Zam-Bots Programme, a capacity development conference earmarked for staff and administrators of participating Parliaments in Southern Africa. Additionally, the Institute supports the creation of an enabling culture to allow for inclusive and participatory decision-making processes. To this end, ZI works with women in Parliament through the Zimbabwe Women Parliamentary Caucus, (ZWPC), and facilitates workshops to strengthen strategy for enhancing women’s political participation.

Capacity building support has also been offered to the Zimbabwe Chapter of the new African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (APNAC,) whose objective is to contribute effectively to national policies and practices in the fight against corruption. These efforts are aimed at strengthening effective investigation and documentation as well as improving accountability and governance.
